The European project EERES4WATER, funded by the INTERREG Atlantic Area Programme, held on 1 June 2022 a #EUGreenWeek partner webinar to promote the opportunities in the Water-Energy Nexus.

More than 35 attendees from different European countries participated in this event that took place as a part of the EU Green Week 2022, a European Commission event dedicated to debate European environmental policy.
The webinar focused on how to achieve the objectives of the European Green Deal and the role of the water-energy nexus to make the EU’s economy sustainable.
During the event, a number of European and transnational initiatives that contribute to the development and technological advancement of the water-energy nexus were presented.
Technological Corporation of Andalusia (CTA), leader of the project, organised this webinar with the participation of Reza Ahmadian, researcher at Cardiff University who talked about the water-energy nexus and its link with the European Green Deal.
Juan Antonio de la Fuente, project technician at the Canary Islands Institute of Technology (ITC) explained the open access test bed platform for water desalination in the Macaronesia region, DESAL+ project. This is a fully-equipped platform to research, develop, test and validate water desalination solutions.
Francesco Fatone, researcher at the Marche Polytechnic University presented SMART-PLAN project focused on low-carbon footprint material recovery in waster water treatment plants.
Also took part in the webinar, Luis Fialho, researcher at the University of Évora, who explained the SOLARTECH project that transfers technology and knowledge in the field of solar energy and energy storage to the business sector.
On behalf of CTA, Marisol Castro, communication officer, presented the EERES4WATER project and moderated the webinar, and José González, CTA consultant, collaborated in the presentation.
